The Ghost of Sarah Haunting tells the story of Richard Haunting who was convicted twenty years ago for the murder of his beloved wife Sarah. On release from prison he books himself into John Deron's Horror Weekend, run by the man whose evidence resulted in his conviction.

The visitors to the weekend are given the task of solving a murder mystery, with the fictional crime perpetrated by one of the vampires, zombies or werewolves who also provide the entertainment in a macabre horror show.

All is going well until unexpected sightings of a girl in a white dress bearing a remarkable resemblance to Sarah Haunting start playing havoc with the murder mystery, leading to confusion amongst all concerned and an inevitable showdown between the two men....
